If you need a new roof, we will make the process simple and easy for you.  We will measure your roof and provide you with a quote for the most economical replacement that we can provide.  The quote will include an itemized list of all materials and labor required.  It will also include permit and dump fees.  When you let us know that you accept the quote, we will discuss schedule and provide samples in order for you to accurately choose the color for your new roof.  A deposit for the materials will be required near the time of the start date, at which time we will also purchase the applicable permit.  All work will be done in a timely manner.  Clean up will be thorough and the final product will give you many years of service.  Please see customer reviews.

Composition

 

Composition roofing material is the preferred material for residential applications. They are made from a sturdy fiberglass base, coated with waterproof asphalt and tiny granules of a ceramic-coated mineral.   GAF Timberline HDZ Laminated shingles are our preferred choice because of their aesthetic appeal, lasting performance, and wind resistance. This architectural shingle, also known as a “dimensional” or “laminate” shingle is manufactured with multiple layers of asphalt fused on top of each other. The result is a richer, multidimensional quality that looks a bit like wood or slate roofing. These cost-effective shingles, when properly installed, should yield an 18-22 year lifespan.

Metal

 

SMP (Silicone-Modified Polyester) and PVDF (aka Kynar®) painted metal roof panels are available in multiple profiles and gauges. These paint systems typically come with a 35 to 40-year limited warranty.  

A 3’ - 29 gauge ag panel with exposed screws is the most economical choice of metal, with a life expectancy of about 25-30 years.  The most common reason for the failure of this roof is that expansion and contraction of the metal results in the exposed screws backing out over time. 

A 16” - 26 or 24 gauge snap lock panel with concealed fasteners has a much longer life expectancy. A 16”- 26 or 24 gauge standing seam panel with hidden clips and fasteners is a much more permanent roof since the seams can be mechanically seamed. Low slope applications down to a 1/12 pitch with positive drainage, are acceptable for this product as well as very steep applications. Many custom colors are available. Wood Shakes

 

Western red cedar, resawn shakes are the most common wood roof available.  They typically have a 10” exposure with a life expectancy of about 25 years since they are generally installed on a solid deck with shake liner felt.  Old style, hand-split shakes, installed on spaced sheathing could potentially last much longer, especially on a barn application which allows for more ventilation.  Cedar shingles usually have a 5” exposure and are smooth on both sides.  Cedar shakes and shingles are becoming a thing of the past because of potential fire issues and labor-intensive installation.

Tile

 

Cement Tiles are the most common tile available.  In our Northern environment, they hold up fairly well but not as well as in a drier, warmer climate.  Freeze/thaw cycles tend to break down this product over the years.  Tile is a very heavy roof, requiring additional structural considerations.  Underlayment for this type of roof is critical to its ability to shed water in all weather conditions for many years.  The expense of the product and its labor-intensive nature make it an uncommon roof here.

Slate

 

Slate roofs are the best of the best. Slate is a very heavy roof, requiring additional structural considerations. A properly built structure, with a properly installed slate roof, can last over 100 years.  Copper fasteners and flashings are the only acceptable means of application.  Some manufacturers are using plastic and stainless installation options with smaller slates making this expensive roof system a bit more affordable.
